I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH don’t sacrifice health for your ambitions and your career. People’ve been there before you, and they regretted it.
- Drink water: You are a human being and you need to hydrate. Buy a cute looking, bpa free water bottle and refill it during your day. Keep a water tracker if necessary
- Move: I get it, you’re busy and got no time for exercising. But movement actually improves brain function and memory. Do little things. Use stairs. Always go to the top floor of your university but use the toilets on the bottom floor. Learn one ore two yoga poses and practise them in the morning. Stretch before you go to bed. Just move. Trust me, you’re body needs it more than you think.
- Sleep: 6-8 hours minimum. Your brain hates to be tired.
- Get yo’ vitamins: Buy a bag of apples and take one with you everyday. Pack bananas wherever you go. Snack on vegetables. Get some juices and smoothies. It’s not that hard
- Have human contact: You probably don’t really got the time to meet your friends right before exams, but not talking to people will leave you unhappy at some point. For example, I got a friend who needs to smoke a cigarette at least every 2 hours. Whenever he is craving he texts me and we meet outside of the library and talk for about 10 minutes. That’s not much, but it is worth a lot. A healthier alternative would be meeting a friend at the coffee machine or find someone who studies the same and talk with him about it. About the topic, about your techniques or how bad you want to talk about something else.
- Write. Every. Thing. Down: You will stress less if you write down everything that you need to before the exams, have an outlook on all deadlines. It will get easier to focus on your actual material when you stop worrying about forgetting a topic or not minding all important things. It will give you an estimate about how much time you really need. Plus, crossing of things you accomplished is super motivating and it reminds you that you are making progress.
- Love yourself and treat yourself like that: Do something solely for you, without thinking about studying (like… heating a cup of milk and stirr a big spoon of nutella in it…). You don’t need to proof to the world that you’re perfect. The world already knows.
You got this. I believe in you
